Distributed Scan Server Installation & Certificates

Having difficulty setting up Scan Management with Distributed Scan Server in Windows Server 2012.

I have a couple scanners in the office and would like to experiment with the Role so I can practice it out in the field.

I have the Role installed and running.

I also installed the Active Directory Certificate Services Role. I created an ADCS configuration and placed it in the Personal Certificates AND the Trusted Root Certification Authorities.

This is the following step / failure I receive:

  1. I open Scan Management > Scan Servers > Configure Local Scan Server
  2. Specify Service Account (I click Specify, and enter in my domain\administrator info)
  3. Temporary Folder selected
  4. Specify E-Mail Server (I leave blank and click Next, since I am only scanning to folder)
  5. I choose the existing certificate for SSL based on the one I created from ADCS.
  6. I also select Require User Authentication.
  7. I receive my final confirmation that the config will not be applied until the Distributed Scan Server service is restarted. I choose "Yes" to restart the service immediately.

This is where it fails. At this point there are still No Items to show in the console.

I did follow this guide as best as I could:
