I Created a print server so easier control over all my printers in my company about (20)
It used to work great but now I get the below error when connecting the printers from client PC's by using the right click connect feature. I have to install the driver locally on PC's add a local port and connect to the print server that way.
I have done everything I can think of to get it working the way it used to, shared the drivers completely give people full access to the printer and server control still no change.
I have lived with installing it the manual way for about 5 months now but I’m sick of it and would like a fix to the issue, I followed a post on TechNet saying I should track down the below key and change or delete it but it doesn’t even exist, I’m not sure what to do and I don’t want to rebuild a new print server.
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\PRINTERNAME\CopyFiles\BIDI"
(Ok i cant post an image or link to the error but its says) (Connect to printer, Windows couldn't connect to the printer. Check the printer name and try again, if this is a network printer make sure it is turned on and that the printer address is correct.)
