I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 with Fax Server role installed. I can send faxes without any issue but 6/10 faxes received fail with the error "The Fax service failed to receive a fax. From: . CallerId: . To: Fax. Pages: 0. Device Name: U.S. Robotics V.92 USB Voice Modem."
This modem is supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the latest drivers are installed.
I have tried decreasing and even disabling the FIFO buffer for the fax modem. This did not help. The modem is set to answer after 3 rings. The modem will answer fine but will fail to receive randomly. Some faxes will receive without any issue. I am at a loss with this error. Has anyone else experienced this or possibly have a suggestion, fix or workaround?
I have used this exact make/model modem on other Windows Server 2008 R2 server setups without any issues. The only difference with this setup is that it's on an HP Proliant server. I have the modem plugged into the front USB ports on the server. Could this make a difference? Could it possibly be a BIOS setting issue? IRQ priority issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
