Interesting printing issue- network related?

We have an interesting printing issue in one of our offices. There are three floors and the server room is downstairs. Each floor has at least one networked printer.

The problem is with the networked 'Kyocera FS-6025MFP KX' photocopier/printer; when users on the ground floor print to it, everything is fine. When anyone connected to a first floor network point prints to it, they get whitle lines through some of the fonts and sometimes through the entire document.

I have tested this with my own laptop and when I print upstairs the same thing happens, yet when I print downstairs, everything is fine.
Interestingly enough, anyone on any floor can print the same documents to our 'SHARP MX-4100N' printer and it prints fine.
We installed the latest drivers for this printer on our print server.

Our network switches are three managed 3Com SuperStack 3300SM switches.

Questions:

* Is there any risk in reinitialising these switches? As i understand it, there is a way to clear the APR (routing table).
* Is this the same as resetting the switches?
* Is there a way to find out if indeed the switches are to blame?

Many thanks!
