Good morning,
I have seen this issue in previous posts, but I have not been able to find a clear cut resolution, or even way to fix this in my network.
This is the setup I am in:
Running 2x 2008r2 Servers that are the print servers and other functions, will reference them as FileServ1 and FileServ2. These both have been setup to respond to PrintServ1 and PrintServ2 respectively. There is an alias in place that is simply PrintServ for failover purposes, and it is to that ALIAS that I am trying to connect. So just to lay out the scenario I'm in, the Aliasing Goes PrintServ > PrintServ1 >FileServ1
When I either add the print server into the Print Management or via a network browser as Print1.my.network.com I am unable to install a printer, or see any items listed in the Printer Management. Trying to install a printer returns the error:
Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000709). Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.
However, if I enter just the CNAME entry Print1 I am able to add the printer.
I feel like this should be something obvious that I am just not catching, any insight would be very appreciated!
