We are attempting to move our network printers from one Server 2008 r2 box to another which will then be renamed to be the same as the old one.
On the old box I exported the printers to a file then imported them to the new one.
After shutting down the old server and renaming the new one we are able to print to the shared printers as before if they were added through the add printers wizard or by browsing \\printerserver . Unfortunately if users had added printers from the old server from http://printserver/printers they no longer work after the migration and need to be removed and re added. Is there any way to do this migration so that printers added via internet explorer will still work without having to be re-installed?
For the time being we have renamed the servers to how they were previously.
