Hello,
As of a week ago I have multiple users on both XP and windows 7 (latest updates for both) who are experiencing long delays - up to 20 minutes - when printing. We have a single print server (VM running server 2008 R2 in a clustered hyper-v environment). The printer in question is a Canon ir1750IF. No updates in drivers were made when things went from working to non-working. The long delay seems to happen only when printing PDF's so originally I thought it was a driver issue or adobe issue. However, the delay happens consistently regardless of PDF program (adobe, adobe reader, or Foxit) and occurs even after changing print drivers (canon UFRII LT and PCL 5) Both matching 32bit and 64bit drivers are installed (windows 7 is 64, XP is 32bit)
Upon closer inspection, Event ID 20 is constantly being logged on the client machines and it looks like drivers are being installed at every print job.
As per other similar cases online I went to check the following:
To fix this issue, please perform as follows:
To change permissions (Disable queue manage permissions for users):
1. From the print server, right-click the printer queue (object) in the Print & Fax window.
2. Select Properties.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. Click the User Group used for printing permissions.
5. Deselect the check in the box next to Manage Printers under the Allow column.
However, no one except administrator group allowed "mange printers"
The only other groups were "Everyone" which only allowed "print" and "Creator Owner" which only allowed "manage document"
Very similar to this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/winserverprint/thread/99f33517-81a1-408b-930a-d0edd8d625b4 but with no ID 22 issues.
Thanks!
Mike
