There does seem to be a lot out there with this. Here is another. XPsp3 clients, 2008R2 server
We installed Lexmark C748 32 bit drivers on the 64 bit server and shared it. The print job hits the queue and can sit there for 1-5 mins. The printer never reacts at all. The job goes into the queue immediately when submitted and sits there. It does eventually print. We also noticed that even after printing it lingers in the queue for a long time after the print out is done. First, I thought it was a mismatch with the NIC speed. The Lxk printer does auto negotiate, but on occasion incorrectly. In this case I had to force it to 100/Full. This seem to have some shortening effect with the print, but still not printing the way it should. We switched to the latest Lxk universal print driver. This had no effect. We also tried bypassing the server and loaded drivers directly on the clients (both system and universal) which had no effect. We can ftp a job to the printer and it prints immediately. There are other older Lxk printers on the server that have no issue at all. They print immediately. I am thinking driver, but it seems odd that both drivers on both the server and client would be doing this behavior. BTW the client was super clean when we did this so I am not thinking dueling dll's or something like that. Procmon on Monday. Also, I am going to try one of the older drivers on the new printer. Any other thoughts? Any other have similar?
