We are about to upgrade our enterprise environment with windows 7. we have over 300+ office location each with a print server which also has the role of SCCM distribution points. Believe it or not. Customer (user) environment must stay same meaning, that if we change out print servers that user's print shares stay the same, so that the user doesn't have to create new print shares.
In the past this was no problem utilize printmig.
the dilemma is that when you build a SCCM distribution point, you cannot change the name of the distribution point. I believe there is a way that can change the connections to the print shaers without user knowing anything changed (think of sometype of alias or something).
We already know that several servers will probably fail between deployments and we will need to replace them quickly. this means to pre-build SCCM DPS but with different server name then the one the office is using now.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
