We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 application server users connect to using different client pc’s, Windows XP or Windows 7. Now they need the possibility to print from the application to local, via USB attached printer. Printer redirection
is enabled so some of the clients get their local printer redirected immediately after logging to the our RDS server. But some experience the problem with printer not being connected. As far as I understand I must install the corresponding printer /printer
driver on my RDS server, but how do I do that when the vendor does not provide Windows Server 2008 R2 driver for this particular printer model? Is there a way to make certain driver available without installing it on the server?
What would be the correct way to deploy printers for RDS users? Especially when drivers are available for example for client OS only? Trying to install Windows 7 printer driver on my Windows Server 2008 R2 server would be a bad idea, I assume?
Thanks a lot
