Hello all!
I have a print server with 26 printers installed on windows 2008 R2 SP1. This server also acts as host server for handheld scanners via application called Wavelink. There are also 27 custom services which are used for printing reports from handheld scanners. Each service is responsible for printing from a different warehouse. Wavelink and services run under custom account with administrative rights.
So this is what happens. Every now and then a report gets printed on wrong printer (but not always...sometimes the default printer is changed and everything works without problem). I discovered that that is due to change in default printer. I can only see in the event log, that the user that changed the default printer is the same user that runs all the services mentioned above. I've also noticed that default printer role is only changed between two printers.
So my question is could this behavior be a consequence of a bad service programming or something completly else?
