Hello all,

We have 2 different domains with their own printer servers. All are running Server2008R2x64 and here is what we are seeing:

All the machines have the same base image being Win7x64 Enterprise. We have approx. 600 computers total

One domain is called ABC had the Print server initially with HP Universal Drivers 5.4 PCL that were upgrade to 5.5 PCL
This domain suffer from the random unable to print Event 372 issue with  the the error of 5 Access Denied. Were get random calls about the inability to print and most of the calls tend to be on a Monday.

The other Domain is called DEF has 3 Print Servers. Two of the Print severs are in the USA and one is in LDN. The two PS in the states originally were configured with HP universal Drivers 5.4 PCL and both were upgraded to 5.5 We get calls from users of these 2 print servers ever single day. Aproxximately 5 a day complaining that they cant print.

Built a brand new SVR2008r2x64 server with only HP universal 5.7 PCL and added only 20 machines of known people whose machines were having printing issues. We have purged out all the old drivers and their settings etc with the registry changes shown below. Even on a brand new PS with the HP 5.7 drivers added initially we see the same printing error  Event 372 Access Denied 5......

The LDN PS that only the London users connect to for printing is still using 5.4 pcl and hasnt been upgrade. These users have NEVER had a client lose their ability to print. They are in good shape.

We have  Lumension Sanctuary Device control on all our machines. I use to believe that this was the culprit in such a way that is was too restricted on the machines but if it was all the machines would suffer and not simply a random handful which is the case for us.

This is the script we run on machine that are afflicted. Even doing this doesn't prevent the same machine from becoming a victim again.

FYI the last 2 lines of the regkey  are added as of today per the new thread so I can't confirm if the LOADTRUSTEDDRIVERS and TRUSTEDDRIVERPATH work or don't work for us. I will update as i get more info.

Address column of renamed printer still contains old info

Today I renamed a printer on our network. Along with renaming the device I also deleted the text in the Location field and updated the share name. However the old info still appears to users in the "Address" column of the Add Printer windows when adding the device to their laptops.

How do I remove this old info?

Entering server name at desktop does not display printer shares

From the server (2008r2) I am able to open windows explorer, enter the server name and see shares including the shared printers.  From the desktop (win 7) it fails with "you might not have permission to use this network resource"

Definitely sounds like permissions but where?  Any ideas?

Printer Jobs Causing slowness

On specific day, lets say Thursday the network goes slow because of all the printing.

I would like to get an audit of Printer files done on that day and spooler sizes,

Any ideas how this is best achieved on a Windows 2008 R2 Server

The From, To, and Subject line are blank for received faxes.

I am using Windows Fax and Scan on a Windows 7 computer. It is connected to Fax Server runing on Windows 2012 R2. I am sending faxes via a phone system to another Fax Server on Windows 2012 R2. I am viewing the received faxes on Windows Fax and Scan running on a Windows 7 computer. The problem is when viewing the received faxes, the From, To, and Subject line are blank. They can be viewed on the Sending machine. I am curious if someone has a better understanding about Windows Fax and Scan and why these fields are empty for received faxes. My initial guess is the fax data to fill in these fields are not sent in the fax message.

Windows 7 x64 can't read/install any printer drivers from Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64 folder and HP Deskjet 855c)

$

I read the thread Widows 7 printer HP deskjet 855c driver about possible installation of HP855c drivers onto Windows 7 x64 from "Windows Server 2003 x64" CD but I didn't have enough luck to succeed with doing it on my laptop. That thread appears to be dead now as it is marked "Answered", so I'm asking for help here. I have Toshiba Satellite P500 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (http://i55.tinypic.com/2zgth6v.jpg).

Let me tell you first that I don't have access to Windows Server 2003 x64 or XP Pro 64 CD's. However I did some research online, which eventually forced me to learn about the "file sharing". After extensive search I was able to get the copies of AMD64 folders from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 with SP2 andXP Pro 64. The reason that I went also after XP Pro was because I thought that the extra wording "R2 Standard x64 with SP2" in description of "Windows Server 2003" did not reflect the exact name provided by poster Alan. I couldn't find just "Windows Server 2003 x64" (does it matter?).

Anyway, I followed first the drill with running "printui /s /t2" and disabling UAC, and then in both cases I was able to locate theNTPRINT.INF file (http://oi51.tinypic.com/9qwvt2.jpg - this image is from XP Pro AMD64 folder) but each time when I attempted to install the driver, I got the same message stating:

"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software drive for your device. If the folder contains the driver, make sure it's designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." (http://oi53.tinypic.com/27yveiw.jpg)

Why aren't there x64 drivers?

During several installation attempts I had the printer connected to or disconnected from my laptop. It didn't make any difference. I must add that for this purpose I had to use different cable than the original one designated only for the Parallel port in my old desktop with Windows XP. My new laptop with Windows 7 x64 came only with 3 USB ports (plus 1 HDMI and 1 Serial). Because of that situation I bought in advance a new printer cable called “USB to 36-pin Parallel Port Adapter Cable” (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003A8I75E). I'm not sure, if it will work until I can install the printer. Besides, nobody talked about this issue yet. I was also playing with the port choices in "Add printer" step; changing from default LPT1 to USB001 with the same negative results.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I was very hopeful after reading positive "case closed" notes there.Can anyone help me here, maybe by making the necessary files available for download? I'm willing to pay for such assistance or make a donation, if necessary. Seriously. Judging by the large number of views of the original thread, one could assume that there is a potential demand for such service. It would be more human to pay few bucks for a few driver files than $900 for the whole Windows Server 2003 x64 CD, no? Can Microsoft accomodate me/us, please? :)

Andrew*

P.S. I was advised to come for help here from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/windows-7-x64-cant-readinstall-any-printer-drivers/4e7d06e1-33a5-4597-be70-4fdc087a63a7?msgId=9a045994-0d31-4d40-b17d-dba372393ee4

spoolsv.exe on printserver hung from time to time

Hello,

I have following Scenario:
One terminal server session host running Windows Server 2008R2. On the TS are about 30 users logged in. One print server running Windows Server 2008R2. On the print server are a couple of Lexmark Printers installed. The newest universal post script Printer Driver from Lexmark is used.  All users on the TS have mapped the Printers from the print server.

My Problem is:
Approximately 2-3 times per week user complain that nothing will be printed out. When I check the Task Manager on the print server I see that the spoolsv.exe is constantly consuming between 30 -50 % CPU. When use process Explorer to identify the threads for the high CPU usage of spoolsv.exe, I see 2-3 threads with the start address "LMUD1NLANG.DLL!initializePrintMonitor1+0xaed00". These threads share the most CPU usage of spoolsv.exe. When i kill these threads all missing print Jobs will be printed out immediately.

I’m very clueless about this Problem. Does anybody have an idea or even had this Problem before?

Many thanks in advance for your answers.

Printer defaults not propogating down to clients

I've set up a copy of server 08 r2 as a print server for my organization. It is currently managing the print jobs for 5 printers, all Ricoh/Lanier. When I set up printer defaults like two-sided black and white the defaults do not show up on the print properties page for clients. I've replaced the driver by Ricoh/Laniers recommendation but the settings still do not apply to the clients. Any thoughts on how to force the settings out to desktop clients?

network printers automatically printing to multiple ports

(2) node 2008 R2 SP1 print cluster with 30+ HP and Ricoh/Savin printers, all users only have "print" permissions on printers, all printers have static IPs and Standard TCP/IP port configs

Seemingly at random a printer will print to its configured port as well as another port on the print server. Looking at print properties for the printer it will show (2) ports checked. Our helpdesk says thinks it just happens to HP printers

Not sure where to start with this? Any help much appreciated

thanks

V3 printer driver: XpsPrint.lib: StartXpsPrintJob method does not honor collate setting for HP LaserJet 400 M401 PCL 6 printer driver

We are using V3 printer driver architecture to do some custom printing and the following method does not honor the collate setting when printed to HP LaserJet 400 M401 PCL 6 printer driver.

XpsPrint.lib::StartXpsPrintJob

The collate option works fine when printed directly.

The collate property is set in print ticket, which is part of the xps document stream as follows:

-------------------------

<psf:ParameterInit name="psk:JobCopiesAllDocuments">
<psf:Value xsi:type="xsd:integer">3</psf:Value>
</psf:ParameterInit>

<psf:Feature name="psk:DocumentCollate">
<psf:Option name="psk:Collated"/>
</psf:Feature>

Can you please suggest a resolution for this?

We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 running as a Print Server.

Several times a day Print Spooler Service stops own its own. I am not sure wheather
this is caused by a faulty print driver or something else.

How can I troubleshoot the root cause.
Is there a tool that I can use to diagnose the issue.

Following are the make and model of 16 to 20 printers shared on the Print Server.

Deployed Printer Not Shown On Domain Computer

Hi, currently I have problem with setting up Print Server in Windows Server 2012, I've added the Active Directory Role and Print Server Role, I've added the Printer and Deploy it with Group Policy, I've created new Group Policy called Printers Policy and add it to the Printer (Per User and Per Machine), unfortunately the Deployed Printer only shown on Built-In Administrator Account (mydomain.local\administrator), I've used "gpupdate /force" command but it is still not working for the domain users. I created the domain users inside a new Organizational Unit and I put "Printers Policy" in the root of my domain and I can see it is inherited to the newly created OU. How to fix this problem?

Slow printing in W2012R2

I am trying to replace my Windows Server 2003R2 print server. But when I try to print over a VPN connection to a network printer it slows to a crawl taking up to 5 minutes. When I print to the old print server it works without issue.  So there is something in the configuration of the Windows Server 2012R2 or a memory leak of sort.

Any ideas?

TWAIN Isse on Server 2012 R2

I have a customer that I migrated to Win Server 2012 R2 as an RDS for their company's Quickbooks  (as well as a few other things)

The issue is that Quickbooks cannot see the TWAIN yet it has been installed. At least that what the installer says.

Now what's funny is that the administrator account could use it. none of the User accounts could. So naturally as a test I made everyone ADMINS.

But that didn't work.

Any ideas or something I may have missed?

Thanks!

Print server restoration

Hi techies,

I am planning for Print migration in my environment, the requirement is

Migration of Printers from windows server 2003 R2 (*64)to windows server 2012

Nearly 40 HP printers with different drivers, names and security settings are taken backup using Print brm tool from server and to be restored in server 2012.

So now I have two questions

1. Will this all printer get restored in Server 2012 with drivers and IP settings and works  ?

2. Current users using the printers installed from the windows server 2003(OldPrint server ) will also be able to use the same without any errors after the  printers are migrated to windows 2012 R2 (New Print server)?

Or What should be followed to restore the printers without forcing  the current users to face any errors or  re-install after the printer migration is done ?

Its  a critical requirement.. Please advice

thanks and regards

sainde
